When the Bible Speaks, God Speaks

The Book of Hebrews quotes heavily from the Old Testament to prove conclusively that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God Himself.

Listen in just to Chapter One:

“God said, ‘You are My Son, today I have begotten You.’” (Psalm 2:7)

“I will be His Father, and He will be My Son.” (2Samuel 7:14, 1Chronicles.17:13)

“Again, when He brings His Firstborn into the world, God says, ‘Let all God’s angels worship Him (God’s Son).” (Deuteronomy 32:43 – Septuagint Greek version)

“About the Son, God says ‘Your throne, O God (the Son), will last forever and ever, and righteousness will be the scepter of Your Kingdom. You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, Your God, has set You (the Son) above Your companions by anointing You with the oil of joy.’” (Psalm 45:6-7)

“God also says, ‘In the beginning, O Lord (the Son), You laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of Your hands. They will perish, but You remain..You will roll them up like a robe…But You remain the same, Your years will never end.” (Psalm 102:25)

“God said, ‘Sit at My right hand until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your (the Son’s) feet.” (Psalm 110:1)

Continue to Chapter Two and see the Old Testament quote Jesus the Son of God Himself.

“Jesus who makes men holy and those made holy by Him are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers. Jesus says, ‘I will declare Your Name to my brothers; in the presence of the congregation I will sing Your praises.” (Psalm 22:22)

“And again (Jesus speaks), ‘I will put My trust in Him (God the Father).’” (Isaiah 8:17)

“And again Jesus says, ‘Here am I and the children God has given Me.’” (Isaiah 8:18)

Chapter Three has the Old Testament quote the Holy Spirit as speaking  Psalm 95:7-8

Chapter Four mentions that God spoke Psalm 95:7-8, i.e. in the Person of the Holy Spirit.

Chapter Five shows God quoted from Psalm 110:4 “You (Jesus the Son) are a priest forever in the order of Melchizedek (King of Righteousness).”

The Book of Hebrews has this famous verse in the final chapter:

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.” (13:8)

By studying the Book of Hebrews carefully, it is inescapable that all of God is speaking in the Old Testament. God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit.

The key to the book and all the Bible is: Jesus is God’s Son. The Father declares it. Jesus as Son confirms the fact. The Holy Spirit of God testifies as a further witness to this ultimate truth.

Anyone denying or rejecting Jesus as God’s Son is making God out to be a liar, the Old Testament as phony and unreliable, and the New Testament just best-selling fiction.

If Jesus was wrong about Himself, or His friends and companions and apostles mistook Him for more than a carpenter-turned-rabbi-prophet, Christian faith is a farce. Believing anything or believing nothing, about whatever God or not from whatever book or source, becomes equally valid or invalid. Whatever. Who cares? Why bother?

But if the Bible speaking means God speaking, and Jesus REALLY IS God’s Son, that’s a forever, However. We had better get that right and settled right now. The whole Jesus of the whole Bible from all of God. All of God includes God’s Son. Without the Son of God, there is none of God.
